Response from Sacramento County Sheriff

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department recently entered into a contract with PublicEngines to provide public access to our crime data in a timely manner (via their CrimeReports product). A link to CrimeReports can be found at www.sacsheriff.com. Additionally, crime report data that includes names can be found at the following location, but it is not as timely (for legal reasons):

SpotCrime previously provided a similar service to their customers, from data they obtained from the company we previously contracted with. However, a permanent injunction prohibits ReportSee (operator of SpotCrime) from misappropriating data from CrimeReports, so they are no longer able to provide our data to the public. The Sheriff’s Department is very pleased with the CrimeReports product, and does not feel it is necessary to provide this data to other entities whose purpose is to profit from that information.

Best to you,

Lanette McKinley
Office of the Sheriff
